The much talked about feature of the new Photoshop CS5 is “Content Aware Fill”. Personally I love this feature as it just works first time. Take for example you have multiple photos for a panorama. When merged using Photoshop this stitches the photos together, aligning them up. The problem with this is the stitch does not perfectly fill the whole image, leaving white space around the edges where you would manually have to clone the blank parts in. As most of you know this can be very a time consuming process.
With Content Aware Fill, you simply select the area you want to fill using the Lasso tool (Ctrl + L or L for Mac) and hold in Shift + Backspace (this will bring up the fill content pane) and press ok. Photoshop will now process the selection and fill the white space with the rest of the image.
A simple convert to black & white, adjust the shadow and highlights are you have the below image 😉
